E-Learning Day
Choose two skills from the list above where you feel confident. Provide evidence to support your claim.
I feel confident when it comes to emotional intelligence, and negotiation. Emotional intelligence has always come naturally to me. I can very well detect how I am feeling and how I should appropriately express these emotions, as well as reading how others feel, regardless of how well they express it. From there I can determine how I should deal with them best. Negotiation, at some level, relates to emotional intelligent, but instead of reading how people are currently feeling, you have to predict how they would feel and the motives behind each of these emotions based on an action or decision on my own part. When negotiating with someone, it is crucial to check up on their emotions. Are they getting mad? Are you taking too much? Are they very comfortable? Are you not pushing them enough to advocate for yourself? Both sides must be taken into account so they can have what they want.
Choose two skills from the list above where there is room for improvement. Describe how you will go about improving in this area.
Complex problem solving and service orientation could be spots of improvement for myself. Often when faced with a challenging or multifaceted problem, I try once and give up. The one way to solve the problem is the only acceptable way for me because it should have been the best approach. Now that I’ve reached that roadblock I struggle to redirect my brain to a new pathway. I could work on this by forcing myself to take on projects where there is no proper answer or path, so I’m forced to reattempt it. Service orientation is another skill I struggle with. I’m a very self-focused person, and the degree of effort I tend to put into projects depend on the level of benefit they will lend me. I want to become more service and less self-oriented. I could do this by finding a happy medium. Something that benefits others, while also fulfilling a passion of my own.

Fishers Parks and Recreation
Implement Recycling in the Parks
We were presented with seventeen different companies, and immediately Parks and Recreation jumped out to me. I knew the person in charge of the project, Dan Domsic, and I was already very involved with recycling at my school, so it seemed exciting to work on recycling on a larger scale.
My group members for this project were Brittany Fornefeld and Austin Rettig. We ended up having similar work ethics and styles. We we were presented with the three tasks for the projects we immediately picked the side of the topic we wanted without any conflict.
Timeline:
Week One: Understand assignment
Weeks Two and Three: Brainstorm 3 proposals (one safe, one slightly less safe, one crazy but awesome) and gather information from surrounding cities who are already doing recycling in the parks.
Week Four and Five: Narrow proposals to one and divide into three parts of the project (campaign, internet of things, dumpsters and budgeting)
Week Six and Seven: Connect three parts of project
Week Eight: Prepare and give Final Proposal
Personal Contribution:
There were three parts of our project, the Internet of Things trashcan sensor part, the campaign parts and my section. My third of the project was the cost estimation and a bit if the catch all portions. I talked to Paul Revercomb who works for Republic Services and deals with all of Parks and Recreation's waste needs. He helped me get an estimate for the dumpsters we don't already have, where we do have them, and where the best parks would be for piloting this project.
Takeaways:
I feel much more connected to the city of Fishers after this project, as well as Brittany and Austin. Due to the challenges we had figuring out where to start and what exactly we wanted to do with this project, we learned not to procrastinate and to ask questions from the beginning, which is something we were timid to do for quite some time. If I was to do this again, I would love to be able to see this project through, rather than giving a proposal and letting Parks and Recreation do the rest.

Making a Positive Impact
Day One: I decided to make a positive impact on one of my old friends, who I've had some differences between. We haven't talked in a long time, and there are some hostilities between us, but I'm tired of it being like that. For day one, I decided to start small. I will simply smile at her in the hallway. If I start to big, I'll probably scare her off; we haven't even talked to each other in months. I started small today, by smiling at her in ACP Gov, after she provided a really good answer. Its not a large gesture, but it is a good start. The next steps will increase in difficulty and impact.
Day Two: Today she contacted me stating that she is uncomfortable with me continuing the project. In substitution for the next two tasks in my project, I took this gesture of her being willing to reach out to me for the first time in months as a step, and for us being able to carry on civil discourse over text as the third and most difficult step. Although it wasn't much, us talking is a big step and maybe a route to us being amiable towards each other again.

Improvement Challenge
The goal is to pick a challenge and use deliberate practice daily to improve.
Day One: Today I decided to embark on an 8 day yoga challenge. My goal is to conquer the baby pigeon pose. I started the day off by stretching for a minute, and went right into trying the pose. I couldn't even get close to the right position. I decided to tackle the far easier crow pose (a cousin of the pigeon pose) instead. I could only stay steady for a couple of seconds. I chose to spend the rest of my time on core and arm exercises to better prepare myself for the days to come.
Day Eight: This was the last day of the challenge. I ddi not quite reach the place I wanted to be. I could never reach my back leg into the air as I was supposed to, due to lack of core strength. I did master a lesser version of the same pose, however, without the back leg lifted. My flexibility increased a lot over the week. There was no way I could reach my shin to my forearms a week ago. I also mastered the crow pose, a cousin pose to the flying pigeon, which is fun to show off with. I enjoyed doing the challenge, in all, even if I didn't quite reach my goal.

Self-Portrait
Initial Thoughts:
-I will be doing a song
-How will this emulate me?
-I'm excited
Process:
-Find a bass drum beat to get the ideas flowing
-Create a drum beat with drum sticks to create a higher beat tone
-Add piano to fill spaces and contrast the drum -Write lyrics about overall goals in life
-Record all parts
-Edit
-Put lyrics over audio on iMovie
-Boom Shabang
Challenges:
-I'm not very tech savvy, so using iMovie was difficult
-Some of the recordings turned out in different volumes and couldn't be fixed
Result:

After Thoughts:
-I'm proud with how this project turned out, but next time I would like to ensure that the audio is more level and improve my instrumental skill so I don't have to record and edit each part in such detail
